Research studies show a relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI), which is equal to wgt in kg/height in meters squared (kg/m ²) and health and mortality. The disease risk for Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease and premature death increases at a BMI above 25 kg/m².

BMI Categories:

• Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
• Overweight = 25-29.9
• Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
